Distress
1. Mayday – Voice Distress Call

Your yacht is sinking. Send a Mayday call on the correct channel following the full ITU procedure.

Another vessel sent a Mayday but the coastguard has not responded. Relay the distress call.

3. Pan-Pan – Urgency Call

A crew member has severe abdominal pain. Send a Pan-Pan urgency call requesting medical assistance.

4. Sécurité – Safety Announcement

You have spotted a navigation hazard. Broadcast a Sécurité safety message to all vessels.

5. Radio Check – Riga Traffic

Call Riga Traffic (VTS RIGA) on Channel 16 to perform a radio check and confirm your radio is working correctly.

6. Marina Call – Auda Marina

Call Auda Marina on working channel 69 to request a berth.

7. Ship-to-Ship Call

Call motor vessel NEPTUNE on Channel 16, agree a working channel, then pass your message.

8. Receiving a Routine Call

Fishing vessel LASIS calls you on Channel 16. Respond correctly, agree a working channel, and complete the conversation.

9. Pan-Pan – Engine Failure

Your engine has failed in a busy shipping lane. Send a Pan-Pan urgency call requesting towing assistance.

10. DSC Distress Alert

Send a digital DSC distress alert without selecting the nature of distress, then follow up with a voice Mayday on Channel 16.

Transmit a DSC distress alert specifying the nature of distress, then follow up with the required voice Mayday on Channel 16.

Use DSC to call sailing yacht ELEONORA by MMSI, select a working channel, and establish voice contact on Channel 72.

Your radio receives a DSC individual call. Use the softkeys to acknowledge and establish voice contact.
